"Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it the reproduction of what the Senses perceive in Nature through the veil of the soul." - Edgar Allan Poe

"STARS & STRIPES" The American Flag in Contemporary Art
                                                                                         and  "ARTISTS HOMES & STUDIOS"

I am so happy to be part of these two wonderful art books by E. Ashley Rooney. They arrived in bookstores this summer.

"Stars & Stripes" In this book artists share not only their work but they also talk about the inspiration behind their pieces. The book reflects the feelings about this iconic image and celebrates America in all
her glory. I'm proud to say that I was one of 64 artists selected for this honor. The variety of art forms range from watercolor paintings to crazy quilts, oils to match-boxes, mixed media to digital. The artwork shows all cultural and political viewpoints that define the country today. Check out both books at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

"Artists Homes & Studios"  Go behind the scenes of the art world as you tour the homes and studios of 86 international artists and enjoy this glimpse into contemporary artists' lives.

EXHIBITS

I haven't been painting too much since the holidays as I decided to focus on some illustrations for a book idea I've been noodling around in my brain for a while.  It's rather fun to delve into something different for a change of pace. There'll be more on that project coming soon on my  illustration blog
so sign up if you haven't already  http:/storybookartist.blogspot.com

I'm still busy entering paintings in upcoming shows and am very happy to be accepted in the following shows this winter.

"Ancestral Path" has been accepted in the Duxbury Art Association's Juried Winter Show at the Art Complex Museum.

The New England Watercolor Society is holding it's 2015 Members Show and Sale at the The Guild of Boston Artists this year.
It's a wonderful gallery right in downtown Boston at 162 Newbury Street. Reception & Awards on Saturday, January 31st 2-4pm.  I thought my painting entitled "Magic Hour"would be good choice to exhibit as Acorn Street is one of the most famous streets in Boston.

"Magic Hour"
I'm excited that my watercolor "A Walk with Guadi", which is one of my favorites, was chosen to be part of the "Journeys" show at the South Shore Art Center, Cohasset. January 9 - February 8. The Juror was Zola Solamente, Director of the Arden Gallery Boston, and it's a fabulous show!

"Juicy" is in the Russell Gallery at the Plymouth Guild in Plymouth where there at many wonderful paintings to look at.
