"Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it the reproduction of what the Senses perceive in Nature through the veil of the soul." - Edgar Allan Poe

I've been painting and framing for what seems like weeks.... actually IT IS weeks!
The good news is that I'm all ready for my solo show "Near & Far, Travels in Watercolor".
The show is a mixture of recent paintings of the beautiful south shore and my travels here and abroad.

Just a teaser...my husband and I had a wonderful trip this year to Australia so, if any of my blog friends out there are able to attend my opening, you can expect a a couple of scenes from the "outback" as well as other interesting places.  Unfortunately, time ran out just when I have so many scenes I'd like to get painted.... something to look forward to!

Hope some of you can make my opening on Friday July 11th 5-7pm

NRAS Festival

As some of you might know, every Memorial Weekend the North River Arts Society host their annual street festival.  It's wonderful event which I try never to miss.  This is  my on site, plein aire painting done last Saturday while listening to the band play and watching the clouds skudding across the skies and the sun breaking out.  A wonderful day!

I'm also adding some images from the last couple of years of festival painting... hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy painting at the festival each year.

It's been a very busy year so far and I haven't managed to blog since January...Wow! How time flies!!
Well, I do have some good excuses. The first one being that I was away for a whole month this winter into spring, traveling around Australia and New Zealand. What gorgeous countries they are and we had a fabulous time. I took tons of photos so will keep you posted on upcoming "down under" paintings which I plan on getting to this summer so keep tuned.

My Good Wishes for a Happy New Year to all my art friends and followers!

I'm remembering those gorgeous summer days with my painting "Weir Farm"in Hingham.  A lovely spot for plein aire painting, although I have to confess I did this from a photo and sketches.  Still, I love the mood it conveys, it makes me impatient for those hot sunny days of summer.
