"Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it the reproduction of what the Senses perceive in Nature through the veil of the soul." - Edgar Allan Poe

Ned Lighthouse and Beached

New watercolors for the Ropewalk Gallery in Mattapoisett.  I love the dreamy atmosphere of these two paintings... so quiet and restful.
I guess that was my mood last week while I was painting and listening to my Norah Jones.

Welcome to Hingham Square 16x20

What a gorgeous day for painting outside.... here's the painting I did today for the "Paint the Square" Event in Hingham. Some proceeds from the auction will go to the Hingham Interfaith Church Food Pantry.  I will be painting another one tomorrow so come visit me and all the other artists that will be scattered through the town square area painting on Saturday.
And don't forget to come for some wine and cheese tomorrow evening at the South Street Gallery
149 South Street, Hingham 7-9pm.
The bidding on all the paintings will start at 7pm
Hope to see you there!

The  North River Arts Association, OTB (Out of the Box) Fundraiser is over and I can now reveal my contribution, an oil painting called "Back Roads"
I tried my best to paint "out of the box" with this little oil which I painted from a photo taken on the back roads in France driving through the countryside to Normandy, a year or so ago.
I really enjoyed painting in oil and have a feeling that this might evolve into an 8"x 8" series from my travels.
